What I did for President's Day Weekend, Take II

So, okay, the title isn't 100% accurate. It was actually the weekend before President's Day, because the opportunity came up and I really hate those crowds that come when they let you in for free on the REAL President's Day. Been there, done that. For the UNREAL Pre-President's Day weekend, I went to Mount Vernon with Princess. We'd heard they were giving tours of the tunnel they showed in National Treasure 2, and we wanted in on the action. As it turns out, they weren't because there isn't. We went through the basement (underwhelming) and finally asked around to see what happened to the tunnel. They told us something or other about a tunnel used by the servants that leads to the ice house, which they will be showing to anyone who wants to see (for a nominal fee) in March. But as far as a super-secret tunnel that will drop you off in the middle of the woods so that people like Nicolas Cage can kidnap the POTUS, not on this estate! Guess the movie makers got a little starry-eyed when they heard there was a tunnel and decided to glam it up. Oh well.

Anywho, Princess had worked her magic again and landed herself a sort of side job as a photographer at her work (how does she do it?!), so she was practicing with all the different settings and lenses of her work-designated camera, and I got to be her model. Here is a small selection of our fun.

Hope you enjoy.

So we may or may not have started goofing off a little at the end...but like I said, all in the name of testing out those lenses...

If you're really dying to know, for the REAL President's Day weekend, I visited some family and watched my sis-in-law teach at Mary Baldwin. (It was a class all about the biology of women. It was fascinating. I was especially impressed at her ability to sound off on the buzz words without the least bit of awkwardness or blushing. Although I did hear some giggles in the back of the room from the boyfriends attending with their ladies.)

Jason got a new snowboarding jacket yesterday and REALLY wants to use it, but has no one to go with. What day exactly do you come home, and what day exactly is your surgery??? :)

I come home exactly on March 20 and my surgery is the next day. But I REALLY want to enjoy the snow you've been getting out there, so I'm going to see if the doc will let me at least go skiing once. Maybe I'll extend my trip another day or two. The odds of that are looking better than they used to...
